Salomé “Sal” Muñoz Moreno

Sal joins the FEAA with a strong background in nonprofit leadership, most recently as director of the Redwood Parks Conservancy. He brings practical experience in development and operations and is known for a collaborative, hands-on leadership style. Sal is committed to supporting education that helps people understand their communities, build collective power, and take action on the issues that affect their lives. He lives in Crescent City, California.

Dawn Jackman Murphy

Dawn holds a master’s degree in teaching from the School for International Training and a master’s degree in organizational systems design and has entered the final stages of her journey towards a PhD in human development at Fielding Graduate University.  She conducts research as a Marie Fielder Fellow through the university’s Marie Fielder Center for Democracy, Leadership, and Education.  Dawn’s research focus combines her work as the facilitator of the Folk School Alliance and her study of transformational learning for social justice.

Programs Director

Amanda Dean is a multidisciplinary artist based in Macomb, Illinois. A clinical therapist and social worker by trade, Amanda believes in the power of art and creativity to heal individuals and strengthen communities. She is the founder of the Macomb Creative Collab (MC²), an asset-based community project aimed at amplifying and connecting local resources, and Director of the Arthouse Folk School.

Amanda Dean

Ashby is a memory worker based in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to being an interviewer and advisor for the Georgia State Transgender Oral History Project, Ashby holds a full-time position as a librarian/archivist at the Highlander Research and Education Center. Ashby is also the co-founder of Georgia Dusk, a southern liberation oral history project connecting the intersections of the Black Arts movement and cultural work in Atlanta across generations. Ashby holds a bachelor’s degree from Bennington College and a master’s degree in education from Goddard College.

Ashby Combahee

Mari has worked with the FEAA since 2023, beginning as the Research Coordinator for the Folk Education Network, a grant-funded community based participatory action research project. She currently lives in midcoast Maine, where she also spends her time working on an organic vegetable farm. She graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2021 with a UK Masters degree in Sustainable Development and Social Anthropology, and worked in Washington state as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer in 2023.
